Music Festival 'Tsars and Muses: Opera at Russian Court' was held on 9 and 30 November 2021 at the Armoury Chamber of the Moscow Kremlin Museums. It will be dedicated to vocal and instrumental music of the epoch of Emperor Alexander I with the motto 'Opera in glorification of the Fatherland!'

The Pratum Integrum Orchestra, the leader of interpretations of Baroque and Classicism music – has prepared a program for the first day of the Festival. Compositions created by Sebastian George and Ernst von Wanczura will present orchestral, operatic and ceremonial music of the times of young Alexander I. An admirable singer from Austria Ekaterina Protsenko will perform lyric and bravura arias from operas composed by Dmitry Bortniansky and the first Russian oratorio by Stepan Degtyarev.

The second-day program is no less exciting. A vocal and choreographic show 'Alexander and Elisabeth', comprising of vocal and instrumental pieces by composers close to the Russian Imperial court of the early 19th century, will present such a popular in the times of Alexander’s reign genre as pasticcio.

The author and director of this exclusive operatic dramatization is the professor of the Moscow Conservatoire Andrey Spiridonov. The performance will bring together the Moscow ensemble Baroque Soloists, the historical dance theatre Maly Trianon (St. Petersburg), vocal ensemble Doros, as well as magnificent opera soloists: Russian honoured artist Yana Ivanilova (soprano), and laureate of international competitions Yury Rostotsky (tenor).
