This year concludes the four-year Music Festival at the Moscow Kremlin Museums, which was dedicated to the development of Russian opera. The festival covers a wide period from the end of the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The project was launched in 2018 with a dramatised performance based on a play by Simeon Polotsky. In the following years, such show as a fragment of the first Russian opera "Cephalus and Procris" and a unique theatrical performance "Alexander and Elizabeth" were staged, while the "The Duel: From Trial by Combat to a Noble Crime" exhibition project inspired the last year’s festival. The final festival in 2023, with the theme "From Tradition to Revolution", will be dedicated to the heyday of Russian operatic art at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
