The catalogue is published on the occasion of the exhibition 'Treasures from the Palace Museum: The Flourishing of China in the 18th Century' (March-May 2019). It examines the history of the Qing dynasty (1644-1912) during its flowering period; it is dedicated mainly to the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1796), one of the most famous rulers in the history of China. The book is divided into three sections and includes descriptions of one hundred sixty pieces of art from the collection of the Beijing Imperial Palace (Gugong).  The description of the exhibits is preceded by the entries written by the specialists of the Palace Museum.
The catalogue is of interest to both specialists and a wide audience of amateurs of Chinese culture.
