This catalogue accompanies the exhibition “Elegance and Splendour of Art Deco. The Kyoto Costume Institute, Jewelry Houses Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels” held at the Moscow Kremlin Museums. It includes three introductory articles and illustrations with detailed descriptions of the exhibits. The articles are devoted to fashion and jeweller’s art of the Art Deco epoch and tell about the influence of Japanese art on stylistics of fashion illustrations of that period. The publication presents 120 exhibits from the Kyoto Costume Institute, 34 and 24 pieces of jewellery from the collections of Jewelry Houses Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels respectively, as well as 20 original designs and photographs from Cartier Archives complemented with a piece of jewellery from the Moscow Kremlin Museums’ collection.
