British curators and art historians will deliver lectures dedicated to the exhibition «Charles RennieMackintosh: new style manifest» running  in  Moscow Kremlin museums. Lectures will take place within the framework of the project «Scientists speaking: experts visiting Moscow Kremlin museums» as well as within the cross - year of British and Russian cultures supported by the British council.

The exhibition which is on the display in the One Pillar Chamber of the Patriarch’s Palace from September, 5th till November, 9th is dedicated  to Charles Rennie Mackintosh, famous Scottish architect, designer and graphic artist, pioneer of the modern design. His ideas and creative works exerted determinative  influence upon the development of the artistic language of the XX century and remain still in need nowadays.

«Continuing the tradition of representing in our lecture hall lectures  given by foreign historians and art historians as well we invited purposely for the exhibition leading  experts in Mackintosh’s  creative work from Glasgow, his native town, where he produced his main architectural and design works», - Olga Dmitrieva, Deputy General director of the Moscow Kremlin museums on developing of the educational activity and popularization declared. - Themes of lectures will be of interest not only for specialists, but also for wide audience which is interested in the esthetics of the modern style, but mostly for those who are studying the history of art: students, young Russian designers, artists and architects.  Some of the lectures are to be held in the exposition hall. We invite everybody to take this unique opportunity».

Within the thematic lecture cycle Alison Brown, European decorative art curator of Glasgow museums, will speak of her own view of Mackintosh’s work, as well as  discuss with the audience details of designer’s  plans taking as an example interior of the tea rooms designed by the author and will talk of the studies of objects and spaces created by the great Scotsman.  A special lecture given by Alison Brown will be  dedicated to the  particular  artistic style of Glasgow, its successors and  the influence which Mackintosh’s work exerted upon it.

Peter Trowles, Glasgow school of art curator, will speak of this famous architectural monument created by Charles Mackintosh as well as of the challenges which are to face the researchers after the tragic loss happened in the School on May, 23rd 2014, when the interior of the world known library was destroyed by fire. He will also dwell upon the question of how the building of Glasgow School of art, designed at the end of the XIX century, was modified and adapted to the needs of the modern educational centre.

The basis of the whole Mackintosh’s work was love for painting, whether  he designed furniture or painted flowers and landscapes. Roger Billcliffe, art historian and owner of gallery, Vice – chairman of Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society will examine the artist’s paintings  –  from  early watercolours and botanical sketches to the period of his flourishing as a painter.
