"The Encyclopedia or the Glossary of Science, Arts and Crafts" – one of the most large-scale reference editions of the 18th century. The working on the book were Jean Le Rond D'Alembert, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Voltaire, Montesquieu and other scientists of the Age of Enlightenment, whom we now call the Encyclopaedists as they worked on this glossary. The exhibition "France and Russia: Ten Centuries Together" presents the ninth volume of the "Collection of Engravings about Sciences, Liberal Arts and Technical Arts" of the famous Illuminators’ Encyclopedia, illustration various artisanal manufacturing. Svetlana Kostanyan, the head of the Scientific Reference Library of the Moscow Kremlin Museums tells about the Encyclopedia in this video.
