On 18 May 2021, the exhibition 'The House of Romanovs: From Tsar to Emperor. From the Collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums' opened in the main building of the Museum of Far East History (Vladivostok city). The exposition, dedicated to the House of Romanovs, displays unique artefacts, related to the Moscow period of dynasty reign, including those items, which have never left the Kremlin treasury before.

The visitors will have an opportunity to see art pieces of the 17th-18th centuries that reflect the history of the Romanovs House from their ascension to the Russian throne till the time when Russia was proclaimed the empire by Peter the Great. A major part of the exhibition is devoted to ceremonial items. They participated in the tsar’s everyday life, which conformed to the strict rules. The earliest object of the show is barmy, part of the ceremonial attire, created at the end of the 16th century in the workshop of Tsaritsa Irina Godunova, spouse of Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich.

“We open a full-value exhibition, comprising 80 objects, all of which are truly unique and possess their particular energy. Here are the art pieces, which tsars’ hands touched, which participated in various ceremonials – standers-by of our unique history,” said Alexander Voronko, Director of the museums and external ties department of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, on the exhibition opening.

Elena Milovzorova, director of the department of publishing activity and special programs of the Moscow Kremlin Museums, pointed out high professionalism and technical fit-out of the Museum of Far East History, "At the very beginning of our partnership with the Museum of Far East History we felt that such principles of work, such attitude to the mutual museum projects are in sync with us and such technical fit-out allows us to show our objects – unique relics that were preserved for centuries and are still preserved in the Moscow Kremlin Museums. For our team, it became more than a partnership – cooperation, co-creation, that part of life which fills us with particular emotions".

Viktor Shalay, Director of Vladimir K. Arseniev Museum of Far East History, marked that this is the third exhibition in the framework of cooperation with the Moscow Kremlin Museums, "A lot has happened from the time when we concluded the agreement, then we used to be a maritime museum, and it is very important for us that at that period of metamorphoses we did not lose our major partnerships. I am thankful to the Ministry of Culture that it endorsed the value of this project and several others, and, despite the hardest time, the world had faced, all of the partners and spectators are with us and the exhibition opens".

The exhibition ‘The House of Romanovs: From Tsar to Emperor. From the Collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums’ is the third mutual project, realized in the framework of the 2018 cooperation agreement between the Moscow Kremlin Museums and Vladimir K. Arseniev Museum of Far East History. This project continues to fulfil the basic purpose of museums’ cooperation - to present the collections of the main museum treasury of the country and allow citizens of the Primorsky Kray and the Far East to get acquainted with key pages of Russian history.

The exhibition ‘The House of Romanovs: From Tsar to Emperor. From the Collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums’ is open in the main building of the Museum of Far East History till the end of September 2021.
