A solemn opening of the exhibition 'The 100th Anniversary of the USSR: G. V. Chicherin and the Soviet Diplomacy' took place on the Moscow Kremlin Museums on the 6th of October 2022. The display is dedicated to life and work of Georgy Vasilievich Chicherin – the first People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union, who took all the necessary steps to bring the young Soviet state out of political and economic isolation and to get it recognized by the world powers.

Among the participants of the opening ceremony was the Director General of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation and ambassador for special missions Mikhail Shvydkoy, and Chief Executive Officer of the LUKOIL Charity Fund Igor Beketov.

"The exhibition concerns what was going on in the Kremlin a hundred years ago – the formation of the USSR, and is dedicated to the personality of the First People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union Georgy Vasilievich Chicherin. I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to the museums and archives which took part in the organization of our project," marked Elena Gagarina.

"This exhibition is of great importance for those who esteems Russian history and interpretation of how national diplomacy was established. Georgy Vasilievich Chicherin was a prominent man who understood that a lot depends on a diplomat's personality, his ability to negotiate and find allies," noted Mikhail Shvydkoy.

CEO of the LUKOIL Charity Fund greeted the guests and pointed out that Russia is rich in the names of outstanding diplomats, who greatly contributed to the international prestige of our country and gained world recognition. "Im sure that the show will find an enthusiastic response by the Muscovites and visitors to the city and become a vivid event in cultural life of the capital," added Igor Beketov.

'The 100th Anniversary of the USSR: Chicherin and the Soviet Diplomacy' exhibition is on till the 8th of January 2023.
