On 14 March 2019, the 'Treasures from the Palace Museum: The Flourishing of China in the 18th Century' exhibition opening ceremony took place at the Assumption Belfry. This display is the first part of the cultural exchange project between Russia and China.

The display organized in the exhibition halls of the Assumption Belfry and Patriarch’s Palace is dedicated to the enthronement ceremony of a new emperor and other official events, as well as to daily life at the Qing court. There are over a hundred exhibits— symbols of power, ceremonial attire of emperors and empresses, accessories, portraits, paintings, calligraphy, documents, memorial items, etc.

Opening the exhibition, Elena Gagarina expressed gratitude to all the contributors to this international project. “We sincerely hope that this exposition would be of interest to the wide audience, as well as give an impulse to further development and strengthening of cultural ties between Russia and China”, marked the General Director of the Moscow Kremlin Museums.

Among participants of the opening ceremony was Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Russia Li Hui, Deputy Director of the Beijing Palace Museum Ji Tianbin and Chairman of the Management Committee PJSC Gazprom Alexey Miller.

The unique background music was organized by the artistic group of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The performance group under the guidance ofZhao Hongsheng performed musical compositions, playing traditional music instruments.

The display runs till 30 May 2019.
