Do you love flowers and jewellry like we do? If you do, this exhibition is the one for you. Here we put together artworks by German silversmiths of XVI-XVII centuries, the time of florescence of jewellry art in Germany. We decided to devote the exhibition to Flora - the goddess of flowers in Ancient Rome. In every item of our exhibition masters-jewellers expressed their idea of a flower. A flower is seen in decor and shape of artworks. It is marvelous either in casting or in chasing or in engraving. Standing close to natural forms or only hinting at them, it is always consummate.
Every part of the exhibition is dedicated to a separate flower. The image of natural flowers in the center and separately presented flowers created of silver, specially picked out from the decor of an artwork, will help you to get your own idea of German jewellers’ talent and craftsmanship.
The front picture presents drawings by German artists of the XVI-XVII centuries and the map of Nuremberg of the XVI century by an unknown Dutch master.
