Cutlery bowl-tray: stoyan

Stoyan or stoyanets was a vessel shaped like a bowl, solid surface of which could be finished with openwork embossment. It was sometimes called a vase on a base. This utensil was used for serving unusual delicate dishes.

Gilded silver stoyanets in the form of an openworked spherical bowl belonged to Peter I. Its rim is decorated with an inscription testifying that it is a property of the Russian sovereign.
