Restoration works in the Armoury Chamber in 2010

Mounting of a platform for the organization of the exploration shaft along the the ArmouryIn 2010 one the Armoury's façades, which is facing the courtyard, has been examined. The investigation, including the excavation works, was carried out for the purpose of revealing the causes of the permanent watering of the Armoury Chamber’s socle. After the exploration shaft has been excavated along the façade to uncover the basement of the building, the researchers came to a conclusion that the inappropriate settlement of foundation and defects of the drainage system leaded to the damping and destruction of the materials.

During the excavation works several archeological finds, relating to the previous stages of the Armoury’s building construction, have been discovered; the foundation settlement has been renovated and improved.

Finishing works were also carried out in the interior of the Armoury Chamber. They included the renovation and cosmetic repairs in the hall and one of the annexes, restoration of the walling material, vaults, and through-the-wall white-stone circular stairs.
