Front anteroom

Front anteroom is an anteroom of the Patriarch's house. This was the place where they met honoured guests. This was the place from the which the Patriarch went out to Cathedral Square to the Assumption Cathedral. While all the ceremonial receptions and processions, the clericals of the Patriarch, deacons and noblemen, stayed in the Front anteroom.

Nowadays, the Front anteroom is the first exhibition hall of the museum, presenting historical and memorial section of the display. The showcases display cultic and household items, belonging to the heads of the Russian Orthodox Church of the XVIIth century: Patriarchs Filaret, Josef and Nikon.

Objects of Russian Patriarchs" everyday life
Particularly interesting are private things of Patriarch Nikon, i.e. sakkos of Italian axamite, home caftan (dress) of Italian velvet, silver staff and klobuk (hat) of Italian damask, adorned with gold thread, precious stones and pearls.
