Pipkin. Moscow, the late XVIIth century
In 1662 from Constantinople the Greek goldsmiths Konstantin Manuylov and Phillip Pavlov came to Moscow; that occasion had an influence upon the development of technique of niello in Russia. Through their jewellery workshop many artists have acquired mastery of niello ornamentation. The showcase 11 demonstrates precious articles, decorated with chasing, as well as silver nielloed tankards, cups and other utensils.
