Vault over the shrine of Tsarevich Dmitry

ault over the burial place of Sain Tsarevich Dmitry. 1630-s.
In the 30-s of the XVIIth century, the carved white-stone marquee was erected over the feretory of Tsarevich Dmitry. The marquee was crowned by wooden facing. The arch stands on two columns adorned with vegetation ornament with a carved inscription telling the time of its construction. Between the columns there is a cast openwork grate. Its ornament includes grapes and figures of unicorns which symbolized the Ryurikovich House. Such grates used to frame all the princes’ burial places. They were demolished in 1911, and one of them was a little reconstructed and placed at the relics of St. Tsarevich Dmitry.
