Russian princes
Images of the Russian princes are represented both in the gallery and on pilasters of the cathedral’s exterior walls. Olga and Vladimir, the grand prince of Kiev, who initiated the Christianization of Kievan Rus', are depicted on the north-western pillar. At the foot of the pillars mural painting includes images of the princes of Kiev, Moscow and Vladimir, for example Alexander Nevsky and Ivan Kalita in conventual dress.
