Permanent exhibition “Archaeology of the Moscow Kremlin”

The Annunciation Cathedral"s podklet
The archaeological exposition of the museum-preserve “The Moscow Kremlin” is situated on the Annunciation Cathedral’s basement (the remnants of the cathedral of late XIV century). It contains over 200 items found in 60-90s of XX century in the occupation layer of the Borovitskiy (Kremlin’s) Hill. The high hill over the Moskva River is the city’s oldest region settled in the second quarter of the XII century. The exposition presents artefacts of Russian medieval culture, typical for Russian towns in XII-XVII centuries. The archaeological finds help to see Moscow, a small town in the second part of XII-XIII centuries, become a local center, and later, in the XIV century, the capital of Moscow-Vladimir princedom and the whole Russian State.
