Easter egg "Military", presented by Emperor Nicholas II to Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna at Eastertide in 1916. Russia, Saint-Petersburg, 1916. Faberge Firm. Maker: Heinrich Wigstrom. Miniaturist V. Zuev.
The exhibition is dedicated to the aesthetic processes, developed in Russia in the first half of the twentieth century. By means of paintings, sculptures, photographs, literary manuscripts and stage sets the display demonstrates various creative forces, activity of different famous painters, writers, stage designers who formed the artistic panorama of the time.

One of the exhibition sections relates to the period when emerging artists such as Larionov, Goncharova, Tatlin, Popova, Rodchenko and Malevich challenged the ‘traditionalists’ like Kustodiev, Korovin and many others.

The other section includes portraits, volumes and manuscripts by personalities like Blok, Bely, Kamenskij, Mayakovsky, Akhmatova, Tsvetaeva, revealing the "republic of letters" of that time.

The theatre is also represented as an important link between literature and the visual arts where the different forms of expression come together. In this sphere there are references to the Ballet of Diaghilev and to the artists who were variously involved in the creation of scenery and costumes: Bakst, Serov, Benois, Exter, Larionov, Goncharova, Tatlin, Malevich and, the truly innovative theatre of Meirechold and Mayakovsky.

The Moscow Kremlin Museums exhibit one of the Faberge Firm's jewellery masterpieces - steel Egg "Military" with the four shells base and miniature by V. Zuev on the easel, which represents the Emperor Nicholas II and Cesarevitch Alexey in the field. The Egg, executed by Heinrich Wigstrom in 1916 during the World War I, was dedicated to the decorating of Emperor Nicholas II with Order of St. George IV Degree.
