Russia and Britain. To commemorate the 450th Anniversary of diplomatic relations
|
|||||||||||
450 years ago regular trading and diplomatic relations between Russia and England were established. In 1553, the Edward Bonaventrure under the command of Richard Chancellor arrived in northern Russia at the mouth of the Dvina River. Chancellor was received at the court of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, and this event marked the beginning of Russo-British relations. For over the centuries, from 1553 to the early 18th century, Russo-British relations were rather intensive. That is why the exhibition “Russia and Britain” is devoted to the “Moscow” period of Russo-British diplomatic history.
