Before the 1917 Revolution, all the people of Russia were involved in Easter celebrations. Traditional Easter gifts were painted Eggs. In the XIXth- early XXth century, production of Easter Eggs became a particular branch in Russian art industry.
The key of the genre were Easter Surprise Eggs executed by The Faberge Firm for Russian Emperors. In the chapter “The Highest Сustomers” You can get to know these artworks and their receivers.

They were Easter Eggs with enamels on filigree by Kurlyukov and Khlebnikov Factories, miniature eggs-pendants executed by The Faberge Firm and other Russian jewellers. The chapter “Easter gifts” is dedicated to these items.
