Orders and medals

The collection of orders and medals of the period from the XVII century till nowadays numbers over than 4600 exhibits. The basic collections of the Fund are those of Russian and foreign orders and medals, service medals (Russian, foreign and modern authorial medals), sphragistics (seals) and foundational statutes of Russian Orders.

A bright particular point about the memorial collection is the high artistic quality of its items. Many orders and medals belonged to either Russian and foreign rulers or members of the Royal family or eminent statesmen.

The stars of the collection are the rarest insignia of the English Order of the Garter of the XVII century, reliquiae of the Order of Malta (as well as the Crown of Malta), service insignia and medals of the Peter the Great’s time.
