Saint Louis and the relics of Sainte-Chapelle

At the end of the year 2017 the Moscow Kremlin Museums hold an exhibition exploring the history and culture of the Portuguese colonial empire of the 16th–18th centuries. Miraculous treasures of the royal Portuguese court are to be exposed in their splendor and beauty, i.e. ceremonial objects from palaces, jewellery, coins, liturgical objects, weapons and armour, documents, engravings, atlases, maps, navigation instruments and tools, manuscripts and books, exhibits illustrating history of the establishment and life of the Portuguese colonial empire.

Beyond Imagination. Treasures of Imperial Japan from the Khalili Collection, 19th to early 20th century

The Moscow Kremlin Museums hosted an exhibition presenting Japanese applied and decorative art of the 19 – early 20th century from the private collection of a world-famous British scientist, collector and philanthropist of Iranian origin Professor Nasser David Khalili. One third of the exhibits will be exposed for the first time!

From 3 March to 4 June 2017 the Moscow Kremlin Museums has presented the 'Saint Louis and Relics of the Sainte-Chapelle' exhibition in the Patriarch's Palace. The display incorporated true masterpieces of Gothic art related to the time of St Louis, including those of the Louvre Museum, Museum of the Middle Ages (Cluny), the remarkable glasses from Sainte-Chapelle and the highlight of the exposition – the Reliquary for the Crown of Thorns of the Savior from the Notre Dame Cathedral. The exhibition was organized by the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the Centre of National Monuments (France) with the support of the French Embassy in Russia within the framework of Russia-France Year of cultural tourism.
