On the 2nd of March 2017, 'Saint Louis and Relics of the Sainte-Chapelle' Exhibition Opening ceremony took place in the exhibition hall of the Patriarch’s Palace. This joint international project of the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the Center for National Monuments (France) supported by the French Embassy is a significant event of the Russia-France Year of Cultural Tourism.

“I am glad that with the help of our French colleagues we are able to put on display remarkable pieces of medieval Gothic art from different parts of France. Such kind of display has never been held in Russia, Saint Louis is not a well known figure among our public, and it is very symbolic that these inimitable masterpieces had been transferred for three month from France just to the Kremlin,” marked Director General of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina.

Among the participants of the ceremony were – Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Sergei Ivanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets, Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinskiy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexey Meshkov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Russia Jean-Maurice Ripert, President of Centre des monuments nationaux (France) Philippe Belaval, Chairman of the Management Committee, PJSC Gazprom Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENGIE Group Gérard Mestrallet.
