The Assumption Belfry of the Moscow Kremlin

The exhibition in the Assumption Belfry of the Moscow Kremlin presents new works by the most known Russian armourers. It is the fifth exposition of modern art weapons in the oldest museum. The first exhibition (and the first one in Russia) was held in 1993 in the Front hall of the Armoury Chamber.

More than 150 artworks by 80 leading armourers of Russia and Belarus, collected in one exhibition area, represent all art directions in modern author's cold steel. Each author demonstrates two his best works created in 2002 - 2003.

According to the tradition, two masters have the right to display their latest works. This time personal mini-exhibitions are presented by Alexander Georgiyev, armourer and jeweller, author of the bright series of hunting sets, and Michael Zherjadin, creator of famous mechanical Flea knife. Artworks by these masters belong to the largest private collections and are often presented to the heads of foreign countries and governments. Artworks preserved in the Armoury of the Moscow Kremlin are also exhibited in their author showcases.

As well as at the previous exhibitions of the project “Art knives of Russia”, visitors will be surprised. This is the first time a number of unusual exhibits and a unique video series open the secret of art knives' forging for the of Damask steel.

A special exposition is devoted to the very creativity of an artist-armourer: four masters will show either ready artworks or preliminary sketches, drawings, computer graphics, models.

Those visitors that will get interested will have an opportunity to meet makers - authors of the artworks displayed.
